Arizona Bao & Dumpling Festival serving up tasty variety of classic dishes
PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — Do you love a delicious, steaming pot of dumplings or bao? The Arizona Bao & Dumpling Festival, with the Fried Chicken & Wings Festival, is returning to the West Valley this weekend for its seventh year!
With the purchase of one ticket, guests can sink their teeth into a variety of tasty fried chicken, wings, dumplings and bao.
But what is a bao, for those unfamiliar with the term? A bao, known as a steamed bun or baozi, is a “complete meal conveniently packed away in a white, warm, soft bun.” Baos are a form of dumplings, and you can try different dumplings from various cultures, ranging from takoyaki (octopus dumplings) to potstickers.
Good Morning Arizona caught up with HuHu’s House of Dumplings, which is among many businesses you can support this weekend. HuHu’s will be offering a Lunar New Year Special — try eight red dumplings for good fortune to ring in the Year of the Snake.
Other delicious foods that guests can try at the festival include coconut bao, pork belly gua bao, Taiwanese fried chicken cutlets, ube bao and more! See the full list of vendors that will be in attendance.
The festival will be held at Centennial Plaza Park, located behind Peoria City Hall. Individual ticket prices range from $6 to $14. Ticket bundles are selling fast, but range from $14 to $35. Purchase your tickets here.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
