PHOENIX (AZFamily)—A downtown Phoenix restaurant is going viral for its massive sandwiches on house-made bread.

First and Last opened three years ago near 3rd Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Their eclectic menu includes cocktails, pasta, seafood, salad, pizza and desserts.

But what’s captivating the eyes and taking over the screens of social media users is First and Last’s huge lunch sandwiches filled with fresh meat and veggie ingredients.

“We were always looking for good sandwiches in downtown, and we decided to expand but do something that’s more approachable for lunch, so we came up with this focaccia sandwich program, and it’s been very well received,” said owner Ashley Hammond.

The sandwiches have names inspired by the TV show Seinfeld, like The Little Jerry, Rochelle, Rochelle, Bob Sacamano and Puffy Shirt.

Seinfeld actor and creator Larry David even stopped by the restaurant!

“Hearing the laugh echo through the building and then having him say, ‘It’s pretty good,’ was a pretty magical moment,” Hammond said.

The Little Jerry is the most popular and consists of a breaded cutlet with house-made basil pesto and vodka sauce, focaccia bread, and freshly grated parmesan on top.

The Rochelle, Rochelle has grilled steak, crispy onions, caramelized onions and smoked gouda cheese wiz. Another popular item is the Bosco, which has mortadella, Stracciatella, pistachio pesto and arugula.

All sandwiches are served on house-made focaccia bread.

First and Last is open for lunch Wednesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until they sell out of the bread.

Dinner hours are below:

  • Wednesday and Thursday: 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 4 p.m.-9 p.m.

The restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday.
