PHOENIX (AZFamily) — As Arizona students head back to the classroom, getting everything they need for a successful school year can add up, including meals for the athlete or bookworm.

Luckily, there are some spots in the Phoenix area that can help ease some of that financial burden. Here are 14 restaurants around the Valley offering discounted or free meals for kids to help save you a little cash.

Over Easy

The breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot has over a dozen locations in Arizona. It offers classic dishes made from scratch, including the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, Chicken Fried Steak, or Cubano sandwich. Students and faculty can get 20% off their meals on Tuesdays through the month of August. All locations are open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Chompie’s

Arizona’s New York-style deli and bakery is known for its classic bagels and East Coast comfort recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are four locations across metro Phoenix, offering a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult entree on Tuesdays. Chompie’s is open seven days a week starting at 6 a.m.

IHOP

The international pancake house and restaurant chain specializes in American breakfast foods but also serves lunch and dinner, such as burgers and chicken sandwiches. You can get a dine-in or to-go meal starting at $6 during IHOPPY HOUR starting at 3 p.m. Most locations are open 24 hours.

Valle Luna

The family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant has two locations in Phoenix and one in Chandler. It serves Sonoran style food including fajitas, fundido, and enchiladas. The restaurants have also been named “Best of Phoenix.” Kids eat free on Wednesdays with purchase of an adult entree. Each location is open seven days a week starting at 11 a.m.

Lakeside Bar and Grill

The Peoria restaurant offers a variety of American and Southwest favorites, from nachos and tacos to burgers and sandwiches. It also boasts a spacious dining room and dog-friendly patios with live music. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal every Tuesday in August. It’s open seven days a week starting at 11 a.m.

Outback Steakhouse

The American chain featuring Australian-themed dining has over a half dozen locations from Surprise to Phoenix and Chandler. The menu has a large selection of steaks, from ribeye to sirloin and Filet mignon. There are also sandwiches and salads, seafood dishes, and its signature Bloomin’ Onion. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal every Monday through Sept. 2. The restaurant is open seven days a week starting at 11 a.m.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit

The family-owned, Texas-style barbecue restaurant serves slow-smoked meats, loaded baked potatoes, and a handful of sides at its nearly two dozen locations in Arizona. Kids eat free with purchase of an adult dine-in order on Sundays. These restaurants are open seven days a week, with hours that vary by location.

Streets of New York

The Italian restaurant and pizzeria opened its first shop in 1976 and has since expanded to over a dozen locations in Arizona. It serves a variety of New York-style pizza and pasta dishes with several signature lunch specials under $10. Kids eat free on Tuesdays with any entree purchase through Aug. 27. Streets of New York is open seven days a week, and hours vary by location.

Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers

There are over 15 locations throughout the state, offering (you guessed it) cold beer and cheeseburgers. The restaurant also serves salads and sides like potato chips made in-house. It offers traditional bar food and gluten-friendly options as well as dozens of brews, margaritas and other cocktails for the adults. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree on Tuesdays. These are also open seven days a week, and hours vary by location.

The Neighborly

The uptown Phoenix restaurant serves specialty seafood dishes like a crispy shrimp platter and grilled salmon along with braised short ribs or an aged pork chop. The menu also offers cast iron cornbread and charred Brussels sprouts for starters. Kids can eat free during happy hour, which is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. It’s open Monday through Saturday starting at 4 p.m.

Red Robin

This casual dining American restaurant chain has been known for its burgers and milkshakes since it first opened in the 1960s. It now offers a variety of chicken entrees, pizza, salads and bottomless sides. Kids’ meals are half off every Wednesday and include an entree, a side and a drink. The deal is good for dine-in or online orders using code: KIDSMEAL50. Locations are open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Floridino’s Pizza & Pasta

The locally owned and operated family restaurant has been serving customers for over 25 years in Chandler. It’s known for offering the “pizza muffin” with different specialty flavors each month. This month, it’s a birria muffin. Floridino’s offers all the traditional Italian dishes, from pizza and pasta to calzones, chicken parmigiana, and antipasto salad. Kids eat free with a $10 dine-in purchase on Wednesdays. Floridini’s is open seven days a week starting at 11 a.m.

Smash Burger

There are dozens of locations of the fast-casual hamburger chain across the state, offering signature burgers, chicken sandwiches and handful of sides. The restaurant uses a metal smasher to caramelize the meat patties on the grill and offers both keto-friendly and vegetarian burger options. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal on Wednesdays. These are open seven days a week with hours that vary by location.

The Hungry Monk

The Chandler bar and grill is a family-friendly restaurant offering an extensive collection of craft beer and dishes using locally-sourced ingredients. There are unique starters like the sriracha bacon Brussels sprouts or the gyro quesadilla. The restaurant also offers over a half dozen burgers and over 15 sauces for its chicken wings. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree on Mondays. It’s open seven days a week, starting at 10 a.m.
