‘Abandoned Armando’ finds his ‘furever’ home in Arizona
The pup was found tied to a pole with a heartbreaking note
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Labrador Husky pup has found a new home after his previous family abandoned him earlier this month.
The 4-year-old dog, Armando, was left tied to a pole at the Arizona Humane Society parking lot with nothing but a heartbreaking note.
“It is with a heavy heart that we had to result to this, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we had no choice. This is Armando (Mando). He is four years old, Husky Labrador Mix. He has had his shots but might need them soon. He’s very friendly with dogs and people. He is prone to ear infections. We pray he finds a good home. God bless,” the organization said.

Armando received treatment for an ear infection while in AHS care but otherwise has a clean bill of health. And on Thursday, AHS confirmed that Armando had been adopted.
Growing number of abandoned pets
Armando was one of many pets left abandoned in Maricopa County in 2024. AHS said they have cared for more than 22,000 sick, injured and abused pets this year, the most the shelter has seen in a decade.
The humane society urges the community to “adopt, not shop,” this holiday season so you can give dogs like Armando a second chance.

Pet owners needing resources to keep their pets are encouraged to visit the Arizona Humane Society.
