KINGMAN, AZ (AZFamily) — Investigators say a man murdered a woman before a police chase and officer-involved shooting in Kingman on Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, 36-year-old Jeremy Muse of Kingman, is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by police.

The situation began just after 1 p.m., when Mohave County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a home on Bosque Road in Golden Valley. There, they found a woman who had been shot to death.

Investigators soon identified Muse as a suspect, who was already being sought in connection with another shooting that had happened earlier in Kingman.

Around 5 p.m., authorities spotted Muse’s car in the area of Highway 66 and Mohave Airport Drive and attempted to pull him over. Muse sped away, leading DPS troopers, sheriff’s deputies and Kingman police on a pursuit into Kingman.

The sheriff’s office says Muse fired shots at pursuing officers, striking at least one patrol vehicle, before crashing in the area of Willow Road and Harrison Street, just north of Interstate 40.

Investigators say Muse got out of his car and exchanged gunfire with officers before he was shot. He was transported to a Kingman hospital before being airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital. No officers were hurt.

The crash and officer-involved shooting will be investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The name of the woman who was shot and killed has not been released. What led up to her murder remains under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the 24th officer-involved shooting in Arizona this year.
