Yuma man accused of stabbing man to death at apartment complex
YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — One man is dead after police say he was stabbed to death late Sunday night at a Yuma apartment complex.
Yuma police arrested 33-year-old Mauricio Elias Robles after he allegedly stabbed a 54-year-old man to death near Avenue A and First Street.
After locking himself inside an apartment, Robles was tased and taken into custody. Officers found the victim nearby with multiple stab wounds, and he was pronounced dead on scene.
Homicides don’t happen often in Yuma, and police say both of the men involved knew each other.
“Most homicides that you see around Yuma are people who are known to each other,” said Yuma Police Sgt. Lori Franklin. “It’s very rare that you have somebody that is just a random homicide.”
Neighbors said the two men lived next door to each other, were friends, and often hung out together.
As the murder remains under investigation, Robles made his first court appearance on Monday. He’s facing three felony charges, including first-degree murder, and is being held on a $1 million bond.
